Since March 2020, I’ve been surrounded by the same walls every day which has made it feels like a lifetime has passed. During this time, it has been hard to plan any adventures. Yet, my friends (Hillary, Nik, Jori and Coley) are awesome and booked a trip to Big Bear at a resort where it would be safe and social distance and lots of fresh air!
As July approached, the thought of getting away to Big Bear was the driving force to continue until we all could be up in the mountains and away from the day-to-day, even during these crazy times.
Our adventure up the mountain started on Thursday and what an adventure that was. Only to me would it happen that I would get food poisoning on the way up to our long weekend of fun. DOH! So needless to say, Thursday evening I spent in the bathroom and looked pale AF. A HUGE VERBAL KUDOS to my most amazing friends for taking care of me and making sure I felt better.
Friday morning I woke up feeling a bit better so we went on a nature hike around the lake and that was what we needed. Where we saw lots and lots of green trees, the beautiful lake, and a flock of wood storks. It was super cool to see. 🌲🌞😎
As we got back from the nice hike, we had reservations to go to the pool for a 2 hour slot. That was super nice to lounge in the pool with limited number of people in your face. The resort made it easy to feel comfortable to be around the area. Hillary brought pool floaties (see picture below) which made the pool day SUPER FUN!
THE 4TH of JULY 🇺🇸 was a main reason in celebrating the long weekend. Jori LOVES this holiday so she made a banner, jello shots and cupcakes all with dedicated to the 4th of July. 🇺🇸 😎
Very early on Saturday morning, (7 am), we headed out to go pick up our pontoon boat to be out in the lake for a few hours. We brought breakfast, mimosas, and music to enjoy our day! The weather and the lake were perfect. Not that many people out (again super early) which made it an even more enjoyable time. At first it seemed crazy to go out that early but when we got back around 11:30 am, the amount of people waiting for pontoons boats was CRAZY! It ended up being an amazing morning on the 4th of July!
The weekend could not end without Hillary and me hugging a tree. You might ask why, here is why, we have a coworker who is our work mama and she lost her father a few weeks before. She knew we were going up to big bear so she asked Hillary for us to hug a tree in remembrance of her father. We LOVE you Julie and sending a big hug to your dad. ❤️ 🙏🏼
The long weekend was coming to an end and we were all very happy to have spent time together. I know I missed them all tremendously and even with the food poisoning, I would do it again! Thank you my FRAMILY. LOVE YOU! 😘💗
Now that we are back and going back to into quarantine this will keep me going until our next adventure (will see when). As a reminder to all, WEAR YOUR MASK, it saves LIVES! 😷
